Amo Chidi, born on 5th February 1990, is a multi-talented personality hailing from South Africa. She has made her mark as an internet personality, dancer, singer, and actress. She is widely recognized for her role as Reneilwe in the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City.
Early Life
Born as Amogelang Zoe Chidi on 5th February 1991, Amo Chidi spent her early years in South Africa during the apartheid era.
Career
Amo Chidi’s career took off when she played the character of Reneilwe in the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City. Her character, Reneilwe, is the niece of Mamokete and the best friend of 16-year-old Mampho. She made her debut on the show in 2012.
Amo first appeared on television at the tender age of ten. She participated in the SABC2’s singing competition Light House and finished as a top 10 finalist.
In 2008, she entered the M-Net High School Music: Spotlight South Africa and finished among the Top 40 finalists in the reality competition.
Over the years, Amo has landed many roles in several television productions. She played a young girl in the internationally celebrated musical show The African Mama’s. She joined the cast in August 2010 for a woman’s month show at the Durban Playhouse Theatre.

Amo also landed a role in Daughters of Africa, a pan-African show featuring twelve women from all over Africa. She represented South Africa in the show, touring the Netherlands for six months.
She continued her collaboration with the mama’s in a successful show, the African Mama’s Sing Mama Africa, a tribute to Miriam Makeba. This show also toured the Netherlands.
Apart from television series, Amo has done many TV commercials. She presented the Design and Automobile on DStv’s Africa Magic channel. Chidi starred in her first comedy film Mjolo Ke Scam on 31 July.
Amo appeared alongside other notable personalities on the cover of the 2019 Bona Mag.
Exit from Rhythm City
In late March 2020, Amo bid farewell to the e.tv television series Rhythm City after eight years of playing the character Reneilwe.
Personal Life
Amo Chidi is happily married to Lebo since 14 December 2021 and is now a mother of two. She announced on Mother’s Day that she was pregnant with her second child. The post showed her and her husband cradling her belly.
