Doctor Provides Injury Update on Skipper Ronwen Williams

Williams sustained his injury during the MTN8 final last weekend, where Mamelodi Sundowns faced off against Orlando Pirates. Despite the injury, Williams remains a crucial part of the team. Maleka assured that they would continue to monitor Williams, who is the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. “The team is giving him all the necessary attention,” Maleka stated.

While the rest of the Bafana team has been given a clean bill of health, it remains uncertain whether Williams will be able to start in the match against Eswatini on Friday. The match, which will be held at FNB Stadium, is one of two matches that Bafana will be playing in the coming week. The second match will be an away game on Tuesday.

Preparations for Upcoming Tournaments

These matches are part of Bafana’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month. They will also be facing Cote d’Ivoire, the hosts for the 2023 CAF African Cup of Nations, in Abidjan.

Despite his injury, Williams expressed his delight at returning to the national camp after missing out on the previous camp due to illness. “I am happy to be back with the national team and disappointed I missed the camp due to illness. I have a small niggle [from the weekend’s game] but I should be fine,” he said.
