Google has recently launched an auto-migration feature for Workspace users that will move Reminders from Calendar and Assistant to Tasks. This will create a unified experience for managing to-dos across Google. Over the past few weeks, Workspace users have had the option to voluntarily migrate their reminders to Tasks. However, starting today, if you have not already migrated your Reminders to Tasks, they will be automatically migrated.
It is important for admins and end users to ensure that the Tasks service is enabled for their organization. If the Tasks service is disabled, Reminders data will not be migrated to Tasks, and data deletion will begin after June 22. For those using a Google account for work or school, it is recommended to export your Reminders data before June 22, 2023, if you want a copy and Takeout is enabled for your organization.
The exact timeline for personal Google Accounts has not been announced yet, but it is expected to happen this month. The company first announced this migration in September of last year.
