On Tuesday, Suzuki Motor, a Japanese car maker, announced that it had reached an agreement with SkyDrive to manufacture “flying cars”. The two companies will collaborate to produce electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Production Plans

The companies plan to use a Suzuki group factory located in central Japan for the production of the eVTOL aircraft. They aim to begin production by around this time next year. Suzuki will assist with preparations for the manufacturing process, including securing talent.

SkyDrive Subsidiary

SkyDrive will establish a wholly-owned subsidiary to manufacture the aircraft. The company is headquartered in the city of Toyota in central Japan and has several major shareholders, including trading house Itochu, tech firm NEC, and a unit of energy company Eneos Holdings.

Previous Collaboration

This is not the first time that Suzuki and SkyDrive have collaborated. In March of last year, the two companies signed a deal to team up in research, development, and marketing of flying cars. This new agreement marks a significant step forward in their partnership.
