Khulu Skenjana Biography
Mkhululi Malusi Manqoba Skenjana, popularly known as Khulu Skenjana, is a South African actor born on April 6, 1982, in Soweto, South Africa. He has been active in the acting industry since 2008 and is best known for his roles in popular television serials such as “Machine Gun Preacher”, “Zulu”, and “Zama Zama”.
Personal Life
Skenjana was born and raised in Soweto, South Africa. In 2016, he married fellow actress Mona Monyane, and together they have two children. Their second child, Amani-Amaza Wamazulu Skenjana, was born on November 16, 2017, but tragically passed away just seven days after birth. Their eldest daughter, Ase-Ahadi Lesemole Mamphai Skenjana, was born in August 2016.
Acting Career
Skenjana’s acting career began in the 2000s with guest appearances in television serials such as “A Place Called Home”, “Binnelanders”, and “Generations”. He also made appearances in the popular television serial “All Access Mzansi” as a voice artist and played the role of ‘Kumkani Modise’ in the serial “Entabeni”.
In 2008, Skenjana played the role of ‘Mandla’ in the mini-series “Noah’s Ark” from July to August. In the same year, he made a cameo role in the NBC series “The Philanthropist”. Then in 2010, he played the role of ‘David Tabane’ in the series “The Mating Game”. He also appeared in several popular television series such as “Sokhulu & Partners”, “Rhythm City”, “Hola Mpinji”, “A Place Called Home”, and “Jozi-H”.
In 2011, Skenjana made his film debut with the role of ‘Max’ in the film “48”. In the same year, he appeared in the film “Machine Gun Preacher”. In 2013, he played a lead role ‘Themba’ in the film “Zulu”. In the same year, he joined the second season of “Intersexions” and then in “Tempy Pushas”.
