Childhood and Early Life
Kope Makgae grew up in the Mapedi inhabitant of Lebowakgomo in the southeast of Polokwane. Like many black families, music was a way of life for his family. From a young age, Kope was encouraged by his elders to be confident, a trait that is evident in his artistic persona today.

Kope Makgae’s educational journey began in Lebowakgomo schools, where he attended primary and secondary school. Specifically, he obtained his high school and matric from Capricorn High School. Following this, he enrolled for media studies at the University of Limpopo and graduated with a BA in media and communications after several years of study.

Early Career and Hustle
Kope developed an interest in music while still in high school. His unique rapping style earned him the nickname Tswyza from his friends. Before breaking into the entertainment industry, Kope was a serious hustler. He started out selling kota sandwiches to his high-school friends, supplied pens and pencils to various schools across Limpopo, turned to catering, and even started making curtains for old-age homes.
Acting Career
Kope Makgae’s acting career began when he landed a cameo role as an electrician in the SABC 1 drama series Zone 14. He then went on to do television commercials, most famously for OLX and DStv, and played a guest-starring role in Rhythm City as a journalist.
In 2013, he played a recurring role as Papa G’s henchman Thapelo on the SABC3 soapie Isidingo. In 2012, he got his first big role in television as Gunsten ‘Gus’ Moloi, a witty, charming hustler who has learnt to depend only on himself, in the Mzansi Magic telenovela inKaba.
In mid-2014, Kope played Mr Finance, a BEE type with a taste for flashy cars and young girls in Alexandra township, in the feature film Thina Sobabili directed by Ernest Nkosi. The same year, he starred as an art director Mpumi in the e.tv anthology series Mzansi Love.
Career from 2015 to Present
In November 2015, he co-starred with Buhle Mazibuko in the Mzansi Magic Original Movie Selling Faith. In early 2016, Kope guest-starred as Vusi in the sixth season of the e.tv anthology series eKasi: Our Stories, in the episode entitled “Soul Mate.”

He guest-starred as the manager of a problematic hip hop artist called ETC in the SABC1 romantic comedy series Dream World. In August 2016, he made his debut appearance on the e.tv soapie Ashes to Ashes as Otsile the priest, who got married to Disebo (played by Shoki Mokgapa). Disebo ran away from him to find a new, exciting life, and he followed, determined to win her back.
On 19 August 2016, Kope Makgae embarked on a new journey in his acting career. He began to play a recurring role as Mrekza, a thug, on the SABC1 soapie Generations: The Legacy. This role allowed him to explore a different facet of his acting skills and further establish his presence in the television industry.
Co-hosting Fundis: A New Venture
In 2017, Kope Makgae expanded his horizons by stepping into the role of a co-host. Alongside Fezile Makhanya, he co-hosted the SABC2 game show Fundis. This new venture showcased his versatility as an artist and his ability to engage audiences in different formats.
