Mathews Rantsoma Biography
Mathews Rantsoma is a South African actor who has showcased his talent in various theatre and television productions. He is most recognized for his role as Nhlamulo Maseko, a wealthy and charismatic forex trader, on the soap opera “Scandal!”.
Early Life and Education
Born and raised in Tembisa, a township in Gauteng province, Mathews Rantsoma discovered his passion for acting and theatre during his high school years. It was during this time that he began producing and performing in theatrical plays. Following his high school education, he pursued further studies at The Market Theatre Laboratory, where he obtained a Certificate in Performance and Skills Theatre.
Acting Career
Rantsoma’s acting career is marked by his involvement in various theatrical productions, including “Ngale Kwendu”, “Errors SA”, “Ekasi Lam”, “One Man Show”, and “Center of The Less Good Idea Season 7”. He also researched and portrayed the role of Chris Hani, a notable anti-apartheid activist, in a play titled “Hani: The Legacy”. Rantsoma made his television debut in 2020 when he appeared on Mzansi Magic’s popular drama series “Gomora”.
His breakthrough role came in 2021 when he joined the cast of e.tv’s soap opera “Scandal!” as Nhlamulo Maseko, a young and wealthy forex trader also known as the Kasi Shakespeare. His character, complex and intriguing, has a flair for the township lingo and culture but also faces challenges such as baby mama drama and family conflicts. To prepare for this role, Rantsoma had to learn a lot about the township slang and lifestyle, seeking help from theatre practitioners, teachers, writers, directors, and actors such as Themba Mkhoma and Jefferson Tshabalala.

Rantsoma’s talent and passion have been recognized by the industry and the audience. In 2019, he won the prestigious Naledi Award for his outstanding performance in theatre.
Personal Life and Interests
Fluent in four languages – Setswana, Sotho, Pedi, and isiZulu, Rantsoma leads a fulfilling personal life. He is married to Nthabiseng Rantsoma, whom he often refers to as his “real wife” to distinguish her from his on-screen wife, Lindiwe, played by Nomvelo Makhanya. The couple has a son, born in 2020. Rantsoma is a loving and proud father who enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies include traveling, playing soccer, and watching movies.
