Early Life and Education
Born on November 23, 1982, in Durban, KZN, South Africa, Melusi Mbele attended Mount View Secondary School. He later pursued Broadcasting Production at Icesa City Campus in Durban. After graduating from Icesa, he faced challenges in finding a job and ventured into the construction sector. He worked on various sites, roads, and bridges in preparation for the 2010 World Cup. Later, he found employment at a call centre.
Acting Career
Melusi Mbele’s acting career began in high school when he and his friends produced and acted in a play that they took around Verulam. The play received a warm reception, with audiences reacting with tears and standing ovations.
His fame increased when he became one of the top 10 finalists in the first Class Act reality TV competition. Although he did not win, the show opened doors for him in the acting industry.

Melusi has appeared in several TV shows, including Isidingo, Muvhango, Soul City, and Rhythm City. He is known for his diverse roles such as the conniving, arrogant, and seductive womanizer Vuyo on Soul City, the reclusive Dumi Hadebe on Muvhango, the charming and ambitious Zolani on Rhythm City, and the loyal and brave Bekumuzi on Isibaya.
In 2019, he was nominated for a SAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor – TV Soap for his role as Bekumuzi. In 2023, he won the SAFTA Best Actor in a TV Soapie.
Currently, he plays Jojo Kubeka on Scandal, the first-born son who knows all the family secrets. In addition to acting, he is also a presenter, motivational speaker, and businessman.

In 2015, Melusi Mbele got engaged to his girlfriend, Andiswa Maqungo. They have a son and a daughter together.
