Career Beginnings

After completing his studies at the Mbongeni Ngema Academy of Performing Arts in 2005, Mbambo began his career in the theatre. He first starred in Mbongeni Ngema’s play, Bhambatha, portraying the character ‘Prexley Ka Seme’. His career took off from there, leading to roles as a dancer on Sarafina’s Nigeria tour and in Shosholoza the Musical as ‘Bafoza’, which toured various venues in 2009.

Rise to Fame

Mbambo’s dynamic dance skills earned him a role in Mbongeni Ngema’s Stimela SaseZola in 2011. He continued to shine in the theatre scene, starring in ‘Long Way To Go’, which toured various venues. In 2011, he joined the 4-men cast of Soweto Entsha for a tour in France and also became a presenter for the sports show ‘Wozo dlala’ on 1KZNTV. This opened up new opportunities for him in the television industry.

Television Roles

Mbambo made his film debut in 2013 with a role in ‘Bad Throw’, where he played a gambler. That same year, he landed a more significant role as a barman in ‘Task Force’. He continued to secure roles in various TV shows, including a part in Isibaya where he played a potter.

He then bagged a cameo role in Uzalo before returning to the theatre. Realizing his love for television, he took on a role in Rockville 4 by Ferguson Films as Boy 2.

In addition to his acting career, Mbambo has also appeared in a Wimpy commercial in 2015.
