Mpume Nyamane, popularly known as Six Nyamane, is a renowned South African actress and television personality. Born on 6 April 1998, she has made a significant impact in the South African entertainment industry. She is most recognized for her role as Nozipho Cele in the SABC1 soap opera Generations: The Legacy.

Early Life and Background

Six Nyamane was born as Mpume Nyamane on 6 April 1998 in Newcastle, a large city in KwaZulu-Natal. Her journey into acting began during her first year at the university. Initially, her mother was skeptical about her pursuing an acting career over academics. However, as Six continued to hone her skills and started landing acting gigs, her mother gradually accepted her passion for acting. Her nickname, “Six,” originated from her days playing provincial hockey, where she played in position six. Since coaches called them by their numbers on and off the pitch, the name stuck.

Education

Six Nyamane is an alumna of the University of South Africa (UNISA). She started playing hockey in grade 4 but stopped after relocating to Johannesburg upon completing her matriculation. She initially pursued finance studies but soon lost interest in the course.

Career

Six Nyamane’s career took off when she started skipping classes to attend auditions, following a suggestion from a gym acquaintance who believed she had a face for television. Her first audition landed her a role, marking the beginning of her acting career.

She gained prominence for her role as Nozipho in the soap opera Generations: The Legacy. Her character, a fearless journalist and the daughter of Nkosiyabo Cele, earned her a nomination for the African Rated Actress of the Year award at the 6th edition of the African Fashion Designer Award.

Six Nyamane has also appeared in the original Soweto TV reality show, Single in Soweto, alongside Bathabile Dlodlo, Mosa Kaiser, and Sindile Ramabele. The show provides a glimpse into the dating world during the Covid-19 pandemic. She played the role of Phumeza in the film The Gang.

Her acting portfolio includes roles in Scandal as Buhle, Rhythm City as Amogelang, and Ndabazabantu as Shakira. She also portrayed Zelda in Take Me Home and Tsholo in Thandolwam. Her theatre appearances include roles as Nomvula in Burnt Vhuwani and Madombolo in The Game.

Six Nyamane starred in the local romantic comedy Blessers, sharing the screen with Kenneth Nkosi, Sonia Mbele, and Connie Chiume.
