Siyabonga Gcwensa is a multi-talented individual from South Africa, known for his skills in acting, dancing, and voice-over artistry. His most notable role is that of Mbuso in the well-known soap opera, Scandal, aired on e.tv.

Early Life and Education

Born in 2004, Siyabonga hails from uMthwalume, a rural town in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Despite growing up in a financially challenged family and facing numerous obstacles, Siyabonga remained resilient. His family later relocated to Diepsloot, a township in Johannesburg, where he pursued his education and discovered his love for performing arts. From 2019 to 2022, he further honed his skills by studying Performing Arts at Diepsloot Youth in Action.

Siyabonga’s interest in acting and dancing was evident from a young age. He actively participated in school plays and cultural events. Additionally, he learned several languages, including English, isiZulu, and Sepedi, fueling his dream of becoming a renowned actor and making appearances on television.

Acting Career

Siyabonga embarked on his acting journey in the theatre, featuring in productions such as The Bucket. In 2021, he auditioned for a role in DiepCity, a drama series on Mzansi Magic, and was cast as one of the main characters. This opportunity allowed him to work alongside experienced actors, providing him with invaluable experience.

His breakthrough came when he secured the role of Mbuso on Scandal, a popular soap opera on e.tv. Joining the show in July 2023, he portrayed the character of Phakamile’s younger brother, a former gangster who had served time in a juvenile facility. Mbuso’s character, with a troubled past and difficulties adjusting to life after prison, showcased Siyabonga’s acting range. Despite his character’s involvement in crime and violence, Siyabonga skillfully portrayed Mbuso’s softer side and love for his family.

Siyabonga’s performance as Mbuso garnered him acclaim from both viewers and critics.
