Sol Phenduka, born on 18 February 1987 in Vosloorus, Gauteng, is a renowned South African radio personality, DJ, music producer, reality TV star, composer, and podcaster. He has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry since 2008.

Early Life and Education

Raised in a single-parent household, Sol Phenduka faced the harsh reality of his father denying his paternity from birth. This revelation led to a longstanding resentment towards his father. His educational journey began at St Francis College in Benoni, where he completed his matriculation in 2006. Subsequently, he pursued higher education at the University of Johannesburg, earning his Bachelor’s degree in 2011. His passion for music was evident from an early age, which led him to start his career as a rapper.

Radio Career

Sol Phenduka’s radio career took off when he joined YFM as an intern through the Y Academy internship program. His talent and charisma quickly caught the attention of the station managers, leading to his role as a co-host on Mo Flava’s breakfast show “Flava In Da Mornin”. After a successful four-year stint at YFM, he moved to 5FM in February 2014. Here, he joined DJ Fresh’s new breakfast show “Fresh at 5”. However, after two years, he resigned from 5FM in October 2016 to focus on other projects and his personal life.

Big Brother Mzansi

In 2014, Sol Phenduka participated in the third season of Big Brother Mzansi (South Africa). He entered the house as a celebrity housemate alongside other famous personalities. After 56 days in the house, he was evicted, finishing in seventh place.

Podcast And Chill

Currently, Sol Phenduka co-hosts Podcast and Chill, the most popular podcast in South Africa. He joined the podcast in November 2020. The podcast, hosted by MacG, The Ghost Lady, and Sol Phenduka, covers a wide range of topics, including entertainment news, celebrity gossip, social issues, and personal stories. With over one million subscribers, the podcast has received rave reviews from fans and critics alike.

Music Career

Apart from his radio and podcasting career, Sol Phenduka is also a successful music producer, composer, and songwriter. He has released two singles, “Isolomzi” in 2010 and “Uthando Lwakho” in 2011. He also released an album titled “Chapter One” in 2012. His music spans various genres, including deep house, electro house, tribal house, afrobeat, nu jazz, and afro dub. In 2023, he released a song called iJager, featuring Murumba Pitch.

TV Career

Sol Phenduka made his television debut as the host of the SA Hip Hop Awards in 2021. In 2022, he hosted the Big Brother Mzansi spin-off, “Ses’fikile”, which aired on Mzansi Wethu. He also hosted the reunion of the hit Showmax Original reality series This Body Works For Me (TBWFM), which premiered on Wednesday, 8 March 2023.

Personal Life

Sol Phenduka is a proud father of a daughter named Malaika. Although he is currently in a relationship, he prefers to keep his personal life private, keeping his girlfriend out of the public eye.
