The Summer Game Fest is in full swing, and today’s event is the highly anticipated Tribeca Games Spotlight. Unlike many other showcases during the Summer Game Fest, Tribeca has already announced the games that will be featured during their event. As in previous years, the festival is putting a spotlight on games that focus on artistic storytelling. The stream starts at 3 PM ET and is not to be missed.
One of the most prominent games featured is The Expanse: A Telltale Series. This game serves as a prequel to the popular Amazon Prime show of the same name. Players will take on the role of Camina Drummer, portrayed by Cara Gee, and will have to make difficult choices that will affect the future of a crew of space scavengers. The game promises more exploration than previous Telltale titles and will be released in chapters every two weeks starting July 27th.
In addition to The Expanse, there will be fresh looks at Stray Gods, a roleplaying musical featuring much of the cast from The Last of Us, and Goodbye Volcano High. This narrative adventure game was first revealed during a PlayStation presentation three years ago. Another game to keep an eye on is A Highland Song, a rhythm survival platformer that has been generating buzz for some time now.
Other games that will be highlighted during the stream include Despelote, a story-driven soccer game with a unique art style from publisher Panic, Nightscape, an atmospheric adventure game from a studio in Qatar, and Chants of Sennaar, an adventure title based on the myth of Babel and published by Focus. With such an exciting lineup of games, the Tribeca Games Spotlight is sure to be an event to remember.
If you happen to be in New York City, you have the unique opportunity to be among the first to try out playable demos of these games at the festival’s Spring Studios hub. The Tribeca Festival runs until June 18th and offers a wide range of exciting events and experiences. On the film side of things, the festival is hosting the world premiere of Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds, a documentary about the creative genius behind Death Stranding and the Metal Gear series. Kojima himself will be in attendance for a Q&A session.
In addition to the events taking place in New York City, Engadget is on the ground in Los Angeles, covering all things Summer Game Fest. Our team will provide previews and hands-on impressions of many games featured during the festival. Stay tuned for all the latest news and updates from Summer Game Fest.
