Zolisa Xaluva is a distinguished actor from South Africa, celebrated for his extraordinary performances in both television and film. He has gained significant recognition for his roles in the television shows “Generations” and “Gomora”.
Early Life and Background
Zolisa Xaluva was born on June 13, 1983, in New Brighton, located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. He was raised in a humble family environment. His early years were spent in the town of Tsolo, where his interest in acting began to emerge. His family moved to Johannesburg when he was still young, and later to Pretoria to live with his extended family. Xaluva’s early exposure to local theatre and storytelling traditions sparked his love for the performing arts and set him on the path to becoming a star.

Education
Xaluva attended school in Pretoria before pursuing a degree in media studies and communication science at Wits Technikon University in Johannesburg. However, due to financial constraints, he was unable to complete his university education. Despite his aspiration to establish a university radio station, his plans did not materialize as he was not enrolled as a student at Wits.
Acting Career
Motivated by his lifelong dreams, Xaluva returned to his hometown of Port Elizabeth, where he joined an arts and culture group. This group toured schools, delivering captivating performances for young students. Eventually, he returned to Pretoria and enrolled at Pretoria Tech to pursue a degree in acting, which he successfully completed.
The initial phase of his career was challenging due to scarce job opportunities. However, his fortunes changed when he enlisted the help of an agent, who secured him a role in the acclaimed drama series “Tsha Tsha”. In 2005, he joined the cast of “Generation”, marking a turning point in his life as he firmly established himself within the acting industry.
In 2006, the producers of “Generations” granted him a break to film the fourth season of “Tsha Tsha”. Two years later, he secured a minor role as HHP’s Manager on e.tv’s soap opera “Rhythm City”. During that same year, he made appearances on SABC 1’s miniseries “uGugu no Andile” and the second season of SABC 1’s drama series “Tshisa”.
In 2014, Zolisa Zaluwa was one of the actors fired from “Generations” after staging a strike. The following year, he was cast in “Zabalaza”. Fast forward to 2019, he was in “The Queen” as Diamond. In 2020, he successfully landed the role of Melusi, a school principal, in the Mzansi Magic telenovela “Gomora”. He also played the role of Mogootsi Masire in the Netflix series “Kings Of Jo’burb”. In 2022, he was featured on the star-studded fantasy series “Blood Psalms”. Currently, he is playing the role of Caesar on “Smoke & Mirrors”.
Film Career
Zolisa Xaluva has been featured in several films, including “Knuckle City” (2019), “The Throne” (2018), “Sew The Winter To My Skin” (2018), and “Hustle” (2016).
Personal Life
In his personal life, Xaluva is currently single and does not have any children. In a 2022 interview on “Podcast And Chill”, he revealed that he has no immediate plans to settle down.
