Early Life and Multilingual Abilities

Chrispen Nyathi was born on May 31, 1994, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Growing up, he faced challenges, moving from place to place and changing schools. His mother and grandmother worked as domestic workers, shaping his humble upbringing. In Grade 4, he settled with his grandmother in Hillside, where he completed his primary education. Later, they moved to Plumtree, and he attended Madlambuzi High School.

Career

A Passion Ignited

Nyathi’s passion for acting ignited in 2004 during Grade 5. He participated in small acting sessions at school, spending just 10 seconds on stage but realizing his love for the craft. His obsession with movies fueled his determination to be on TV someday. In 2019, he relocated to South Africa, attending Denver Secondary School. There, he gained exposure through a school project called “Behind the Blazer,” which opened doors to acting opportunities in series like BennelandersAksiSpaza, and Accused.

The DiepCity Breakthrough

Nyathi’s persistence paid off when he secured the role of Charleston in DiepCity. His journey to fame began with Mandla N’s initiative, where auditions took place on Instagram Live videos. Mandla N, the producer of DiepCity, recognized Nyathi’s talent and cast him as a Zimbabwean pastor preaching the good news in Diepkloof.
